Syzgium is one of the most robust genera in the plant kingdom. Consisting of hundreds of species, the non-native trees duhat, makopa and tampoy, as well at the native igot, lipote and haggis, all belong to this species. The fruits of both these native and non-native trees are edible, many of them sour; hence the name.
