Ipil must not be confused with the invasive alien species, ipil-ipil. The ipil tree is an endangered species and should be included more regularly in tree planting program and landscaping projects, if only for fagrant flowers. Its timber is highly prize as it is resistant to termites and salt water and can withstand water log.
