The names of products of exceptional quality and economic importance refer to its origin, i.e. Manila hemp, Manila folder. Likewise, pagsahingin’s resin is known in the trade as the “Manila elemi”. The root word sahing means resin, the tree produces this substance in good quantity, and is used for various economic and medicinal purposes. The tree also has a zany nickname, “rocky nut”, owing to its hard seeds.
